This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom library serves nearly 120 students, plus former students who consistently drop by in search of their next book. My sixth graders are clamoring for more sports books, in particular more soccer books. This collection is a mix of nonfiction and fiction texts with a wide range of reading levels.

Bringing high-interest books -books about their favorite sports- to my reluctant readers and athletes is a great way to build reading stamina, vocabulary, and interest.

I can't keep sports books on my shelves! Expanding our collection of books will allow me to offer kids more selections without the wait.
