This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each morning, the Montague students run onto campus, excited to learn. They are still "wowed" by technology, as many do not have access at home.
These young students, ranging from grade K to 5, live in a low income neighborhood and many of their parents attended the same school as children.
However, the parents are deeply involved in their children's education and want to make sure their children have every chance to succeed.
My Project
Our school was NOT part of the iPad roll out program and we are short on current technology. Imagine, though, a school where students WANT to be fluent in English and be successful. These iPads will be used in a classroom where students struggling with English fluency can use apps to strengthen their language skills and catch up to their peers, while learning how to use technology; this will make them competitive with students from higher income areas.
This donation will make a substantial impact on the students.
The teacher will be able to work with struggling students in small groups and help them with engaging apps to strengthen skills, while also providing a chance for advanced learners to do additional research for enrichment. Many have no access to technology outside of school.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
