My Project
Our students have a strong desire to read books in their own language, and we are struggling to meet that demand. While we were thrilled to receive several Spanish books at the beginning of the year, they have become so popular that we don’t have enough to go around. It’s heartbreaking to tell a student we don’t have a book available for them, so it’s clear that we need to expand our collection.
Expanding our Spanish collection will ensure that every student has access to the books they need to foster a lifelong love of reading.
One of our Spanish heritage teachers has made it her mission to bring her classes to the library several times each semester. During her last visit, there weren’t enough books on the shelves to accommodate her students because most had already been checked out. While I’m thrilled that these books are being read and that students feel represented and included, we need more resources to keep up with the demand.
I am passionate about creating a welcoming library space where every student can find books that inspire them and would appreciate any assistance to make that dream a reality.
