My Students

There is a banner at the front of our room that reads "We Can Do Hard Things." I encourage all my students to do their best even when it is hard. Some students struggle more than others. At the end of the year I want all students to be ready to move to the next grade confident in their skills.

My school is AMAZING!

There is such a feeling of unity within the student population. They encourage each other and help each other. We have a morning meeting each morning where we talk and become better friends every day. They would do anything for each other and prove it on a daily basis. Bullies are not something you see at our school. I work at a charter school and there are quite a few students that fell behind in public school and felt that a charter school would be a better fit. As teachers, we work really hard to help those students catch up and succeed. Other students jump in and help whenever they can. It is inspiring.

My Project

Ipad minis will help those that struggle academically by using them in listening centers to encourage reading, math centers to strengthen basic math skills, spelling activities, and reading activities to help those that need the extra help. My goal is to utilize these ipad minis to the full extent. I cannot be with every struggling student all the time and these will help engage the students while I work one-on-one with another one. They will be a great asset to help supplement the learning that happens in the classroom.

Last year I saw students struggle and no matter what different programs I used some didn't seem to make the improvements that they were capable of.

I know that these ipad minis will help engage the students when worksheets and other activities may not.
