My Project
My middle grade students attend a small PK-12 rural school of 250. Many of our students are residents at a children's home that serve disadvantaged youth, as well as single-mother families. The community is a tight-knit, family oriented, and very loving place to bring up children, therefore many of our students have generations that go back to the inception of our school. It is a privilege to teach here, but because of our small size, resources for the students can be limited.
Reading is fundamental for ALL subjects!
My goal is to show kids that reading can be enjoyable, while learning foundational skills. I try to incorporate novels and projects, along with print and digital comprehension activities to motivate my students. The curriculum guide I have chosen from TeachersPayTeachers, will only enrich the current curriculum I already use, but also allow the classroom to come alive with learning and help my students..."Reach for the Stars!"
