My Students

"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable.... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." ~Martin Luther King, Jr

My school is a challenging campus as we draw from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnically diverse groups.

On my campus there are a large number of students who will be first-time college bound students -- some of them first time, high school graduates in their families! What a tribute to their families! My students have the drive to learn, to achieve, and to succeed enough to get them into college. All they need to succeed is dedication along with a guide to help them learn how to study, how to be proud of their work and have confidence in themselves!

My Project

I teach wonderful group of 7th and 8th students that are striving to be the best students they can in school. Many of my students and their families do not money for extras after food and rent are paid. They try to hide the fact that do not have the money for supplies, including backpacks by telling me that their parents haven't had the time to go to the store yet; maybe this weekend.

I want to give my students the ability to be successful with their studies, which includes being organized.

Many of my students have backpacks that have zippers that don't work or have big holes in them from many years of use. I want to be able to give them a new, cool backpack that will fit all of their notebooks, binders and books and that will last for the entire year.

My students know that if they come to me and tell me that they need any school supply I will get it for them, including a new backpack. I want them to see the good in the world and that if they work hard they are able to achieve everything they set their minds too. College here they come!
