My students need 'Cubelets' in the classroom to inspire them to use technology in different ways by learning programming skills in a nonthreatening way.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Bond's classroom raised $231

My Students
Third graders are energetic and eager to try new things. My class is begging to learn computer coding. My motto is "Busy hands, make happy, engaged learners!" Cubelets will allow students the chance to start learning programming easily with these magnetic cubes that have built in brains.
My school and my class are a melting pot of personalities and ethnic groups.
The students are all very eager to try new things. They are helpful and kind and definitely come to school to learn. The big question that I get this year is "should I try my best?" I just smile and explain that ...anything worth doing is worth doing well!
We are working a lot in small groups to get them collaborating and working as a cohesive unit. The students love being part of the group and sharing what new discoveries they have learned. I love to expose them to new things and give them the opportunities to think outside the "box". I believe Cubelets will promote more thought provoking discussions, that will help them meet and exceed the standards.
Students need access to technology and it is hard to get current technologies into the classroom. These students need to see what is out there and get hands-on experience using these new devices.
My Project
By using Cubelets in the classroom, students will have programming literally in the palm of their hands. It is a unique approach to letting kids create, and explore programming by stacking magnetic blocks to make robots that can move. Each Cubelet has its' own unique capabilities. The students will work in small groups to complete a challenge. They will learn how to move, turn, and light up their robot by using different sequences of blocks to change the actions of the robots.
Cubelets will allow the students to learn about programming in a non-threatening environment. They will create and master projects that they will share with the class. The students will also learn about cooperation, teamwork, and build social skills that are needed throughout their lives.
Your donations will allow my students to get a jump start on programming and interpersonal skills.
The Cubelets will foster excitement and get the students engaged and eager to try new things. By exposing students to technology at a young age, they will want to get a career in the STEM areas. These young people will be creating new technologies that we can only dream of. They are our future and they need the opportunities to reach for the stars.
