My Students

"We took the audience on an emotional roller coaster!" This was the exclamation by a cellist in our orchestra program after our concert last fall. Our Title I school serves students in grades 9-12 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment propelled by the arts. As a result, we are consistently raising our status in the county and the state. Our orchestra and guitar programs are growing exponentially.

Our orchestra and guitar programs are made up of hardworking, dedicated, and motivated students in grades 9 through 12 who believe music can play a part in changing the world.

We have an extremely diverse group with students from all around the world adding their part to an ever-growing program.

80% of our students are on free and reduced lunch and can not afford rental instruments, concert clothes, and basic supplies that can help get them to the next level. They are extremely dedicated to being the best they can be.

My Project

The Wekiva Orchestra program has been growing and improving exponentially year over year. However, our school-owned instruments have a significant amount of wear and tear.

The goal of this project is to replace the aging strings on all 5 of our string basses in order to continue providing quality instruments for our students to practice, play, and perform on.

These new strings will allow us to replace the 8-year-old strings currently falling apart on the school instruments.

The goal of the Wekiva Orchestra program is to provide an amazing musical experience for every student but also to create a family. Any assistance to our family would be greatly appreciated. Changing the strings on these few instruments can change the sound of the entire ensemble.
