Re-Sculpting the Ceramics Experience From Scratch

Help me give my students access to a true ceramics studio, where quality materials such as stoneware, glazes, and hand-building tools are available for them to create 3-D sculpture.

My Students

As a special subject teacher, I have known my upper elementary art students for close to eight years now, which is pretty unique, and one of the best parts about being my school's art teacher. Fostering an ongoing relationship with kids from year to year means that a genuine mutual trust can been formed, which leads to greater freedom in the classroom and the opportunity to develop meaningful units that showcase a student's developing technique and curiosity in a topic.

Students in grades 3-5 are given the opportunity to grapple with challenging content as a result of maturing throughout the course of their arts education.

A strong desire to create, paired with access to unique and quality materials to fulfill the ideas students imagine for themselves, sets students up for success and a joy for engaging in the process of art making.

My Project

The complete renovation of our school came with many positive changes, however, making art in a temporary space for two years meant no access to a quality ceramics program.

It's time to rebuild!

We need help collecting the key components of a high functioning ceramics program in our brand new 21st century art studio in order to get back to where we once were in terms of consumable supplies and permanent equipment.

Access to quality materials in the arts elevates student performance and artistic outcomes. Creating with authentic materials means students feel confident about the work the produce and excited to take bold risks when tapping into their creativity.
