Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When I dismissed my class on March 13, 2020 I didn’t realize our classroom community would be turned upside down. It was the last time I gave hugs and high fives as my students were picked up by parents, guardians and aftercare personnel.
My kids are currently learning from home with the use of electronic devices provided by our school and the NYC DOE.
We are using google classroom and a variety of other websites to compliment our curriculum.
My Project
In this Topsy-Turvy world we are living in right now I want to provide my students with a welcoming environment where they have the opportunity to be the "First Ones" getting to use the new supplies.
Who doesn't want to be the first to use new supplies?!
The majority of my students come from low-income households where they share most everything with siblings.
I want to create a classroom that is inviting for them to learn in.
My goal is to have a classroom community where they feel welcomed and safe. Where they can explore new ideas and sharpen old skills in a room they feel belongs to them.
They can come into our classroom everyday knowing they have the materials to engage in new academic experiences.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
