My Students

One of the great challenges facing my students is finding engaging reading materials at all different reading levels. RAZ for Kids is an online program that allows students to read, record their reading and listen to stories at home.

My students come from predominantly lower socioeconomic homes.

Most resources they depend on are in the school. Because of this, it is incumbent upon me to find resources, especially technological ones, to equip them with the skills necessary to be successful both in the classroom as well as the community.

My Project

RAZ for Kids is an online program that kids can use anywhere internet access is available. Recording their reading allows them to listen for their strengths as well as the areas that they need to focus on to improve. The program shows students progress they make, awards stars they can use to "buy" items for their "space room" and allows families to monitor their students at home.

Our students need the opportunity to practice reading and technology skills in order to be successful in their present and future educational experiences.

Third grade is critical in that state mandated testing begins and can provide optimism or a negative impact if students are not successful.
