My Project
This is a project for reading materials. In this project, you will find I have included several picture books as well as chapter books.
I will be using the picture books to focus on several standards and learning objectives throughout the year.
One specific example for this is using the book, "Lon Po Po" which is a Chinese take on Little Red Riding Hood to compare and contrast the characters, plot, and setting of these two books.
Some of these topics include asking and answering questions, identifying the main idea and theme, comparing and contrasting, as well as cause and effect. These skills are essential to comprehending different texts. By funding this project, you will allow me to use these materials to teach my third graders the necessary skills they need in a fun way.
I also included six copies of several chapter books. I plan to use these chapter books in my guided reading block for above-grade-level readers. These readers will use these books together in a literature circle. This provides my learners the opportunity to have an enriched reading experience.
Lastly, you will see several books about diversity and social-emotional learning. It is important to me to have representation in my classroom library for ALL students.
Every day, my goal as an educator is to make learning fun, engaging, and accessible. Having these learning materials will make that possible for my class of wonderful kids!
