My students need high interest chapter books to satisfy their reading appetites! ATPE teacher on a mission to fulfill!

My Students

Our classroom has a diverse student population. My goal is to provide all levels of students with the support they need. I also strive to enrich the learning of our gifted students.

My students come from a high poverty area.

Their experiences are so very limited. Many of them have never even left our town.

Parents are working hard to provide for them. Our school is doing everything it can to meet our students needs but money is tight all over and corners are cut...unfortunately, this means limited budgets.

My Project

These amazing book titles will engage hungry readers. I recently polled my students on the books they are interested in. I had a few of the titles but really need more to help keep them engaged.

Research shows:

"Students who scored 90% better than their peers on reading tests, read for more than 20 minutes a day – exposing them to 1.8 million words a year.

Students who scored at fifty percentile, read on average only 4.6 minutes a day – exposing them to 282,000 words per year.

Students in the ten percentile for reading, read less than 1 minute per day – exposing them to 8,000 words per year.
