Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Here at our school, we are a Title I school, which means many of our students don't have the funds necessary to afford their own athletic equipment. We have about 500+ students who participate in sports every year from tennis to soccer, swim, volleyball and more! Our students love putting their extracurricular time into sports and clubs where they develop their passions.

My Project

Being a Title I school, our students do not always have the opportunities to participate in sports outside of school. That is why are sports programs here are so special because we get to see our kids flourish and develop into young adults not only in the classroom, but on the court, field or pool. Having the ability to provide equipment for our students in sports takes a weight and worry off their backs that could be the difference in them participating or not participating.

It is so exciting to see the joy and energy that the student-athletes bring to the playing field no matter what sport it may be.

Many of our tennis athletes have come to the sport as a new athlete. It is truly a great opportunity for them to step out of their comfort zone to learn a sport that they will take with them throughout the rest of their life.
