This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I look at my students I see a group of young men and women that are primed to do big things with their lives, and they are looking for the knowledge and support to make that a possibility. They come from diverse family backgrounds - some are supportive and present, and some are doing school almost entirely on their own.

My students are overcoming a present that doesn't always support their goals for their future.

We live in an area of poverty and it is common to hear students share life experiences that are completely different from my own. My students understand that the world is not going to do them any favors, and I want to prove to them that they don't need it to.

My Project

Telling a student to create something is a fun and exciting process that you will always be surprised by what they can create, but if you do not have the tools to support a student it sometimes feels like an trying to build with an arm tied behind their back. I want to provide my students and my robotics team the tools that they can take an idea, to a prototype, to a real part in the matter of a day instead of a week.

I want to give my students the chance to see what they have in their mind become something real.

Through the use of 3D printing in the classroom, supported with filament and the printer, to the more basic forms of prototyping and building with cardboard, with the cutters and markers. Finally if students are able building real parts out of some of the other tools like the noise cancelling protection and goggles.

Six weeks is not a lot of time for a FIRST Robotics Competition team to go from concept to build. The ability to draw something up in a CAD program to have a real product in front of you. The cyberdogz need the tools to take our building to the next level.
