My Students
I work in West Philadelphia where the families have very limited resources to help support their children's literacy needs. Recently, I had the chance to revitalize the school library. For years, this space has not been used, and our students have been thrilled to experience a transformed space for learning, listening, and reading.
Students at our school come to class without pencils, paper, and folders, and many times arrive without having eaten breakfast.
We are a K-8 school with approximately 800 students.
The students I teach are excited to learn and happy to be a part of our school community. However, materials and supplies are almost non-existent and need to be purchased by the teachers. Students here love to read and need all the support they can get.
My Project
With this new pandemic our students will be learning from their homes. Therefore , I will need to get all the necessary items to make sure they working to the best of their abilities while they are not at school and to keep them focused on their day . The easel and the write-on boards are a fantastic way to model writing for stories, grammar lessons and phonics . The ESL Literacy games will be an amazing way to create some fun and interactive dynamics while we’re on Zoom that I’m looking forward to challenging my class with. The prizes and reward incentives will be a great way to motivate the children at the end of the day for them to see how wonderful
they are doing with all their learning and successes .
