My students are kind, compassionate humans that have not had the best school experiences. They were placed in the ED (Emotional Disability) classroom because they needed a more structured environment to get their education. Because of their behaviors, they have missed out on a lot of their academics and school adventures throughout their school years.
Our classroom's main focus is relationships.
We focus on creating positive relationships in our classroom to ensure a positive experience when coming to school. We want our students to know that we are excited to see them every day and so thankful to get to spend every day with them.
My Project
Help our Special Education ED classroom gain new, fun, exciting books for our daily classroom read alouds. I have worked hard this summer "re-vamping" my reading mini-lesson instruction goals. Along with the new skills I want my students to learn, I also want to introduce new books and authors every single day of the school year. A lot of our classroom library books are for independent reading and/or research.
I am wanting to incorporate picture books that go along with each daily lesson to ensure that my students get to put our new skills to action!
Having picture book conversations daily will increase the students' interests as well as give them the skills they need to develop as a reader. Daily mini lessons enhance their reading skills!
