My Students
My students primarily come from an underprivileged population in an urban environment. Many of my students do not have the resources at home to maximize their learning potential. It is my goal, then, to provide them with the best tools and resources possible for the time that they are in my classroom.
I believe that every one of my students can be college-bound, despite the fact that many of them come from families where this has not been a reality.
In order to achieve this goal, my students will need a variety of tools to meet their needs as individual learners.
My Project
I am requesting pencils, lined paper, sticky notes, and chart paper to help keep reading instruction engaging and rigorous for students.
Our state assessment asks students to engage with texts in a rigorous manner.
To support students in this, I would like to offer my scholars a way to annotate texts and take notes about what they read. The sticky notes and pencils will help with this goal. The chart paper will be used to make reference anchor posters that break reading skills into manageable "steps" for students to follow. The lined paper will be used for students to write about what they read, another rigorous reading skill that I know my students need extra practice with.
