My students need new books, containers, and basic classroom supplies to help organize our classroom. The new books and plastic containers will be used to organize our classroom library by genre and Lexile level.
Our school is a K-8 school that holds awards for both academic achievement success and environmental sustainability efforts. We have visitors from around the world come to learn how to replicate our model of issues-based project-based learning in their countries. Our integration of sustainability practices helps promote purposeful decision making among our students about the environment. Students are encouraged to be forward thinkers while also reflecting on their own learning process. Our school empowers students to build a connected, just, and sustainable world.
My Project
Does anything beat the smell of a new book? Our students will be thrilled to have access to new books as we rarely get any new reading material. We rely on used, donated books to furnish our classroom library. This project will allow us to purchase new, exciting titles that students are interested in reading. Teachers will be working over the summer to organize our classroom library by genre and Lexile. The new stools will be used to create comfortable cafe-style seating in our classroom library. These seats will provide spaces for literature circles, book talks, and a quiet space to get lost in the reading zone.
