Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I teach come from a very low income environment and many move often, in and out of our school. I teach 1st grade and average anywhere from 18-22 students a year. Despite their home life, most are eager to come to school and learn everyday! I want the opportunity to do the best job I can for them. The items I am requesting, such as MP3 players, alphabet letter stamps, ten frame boards, spinners, dry erase boards, dry erase pockets a hundreds chart, splitters will help me to provide structure, and fun educational opportunities for my new and future classes. Other items I am look to buy for my room include a few sets of containers to hold the items needed for centers and work. I appreciate all who are willing to help me achieve this goal.

My Project

By receiving the items listed, our independent centers will run more smoothly and efficiently in our classroom. In addition to our centers, teaching my students as a whole class will be more smooth and efficient. I feel that given the area my school is in, exposing my students to more hands-on materials will make a huge difference in their lives educationally. By putting my books on an iPod will allow my resources (books on CD) to last longer and be able to service students for a long time to come. It will be easier for my students to have their own materials instead of having to share everything with 3 or 4 other students. I requested various math manipulatives like magnetic ten-frames boards and dry/erase boards to aid in student learning both in a whole group setting as well as in a small group/center setting.
