Raising the Barre

My students need two ballet barres to properly warm up for ballet class and to develop their skills with various barre exercises.

My Students

My goal is to promote education, discipline, self-esteem, and a safe place for children to express themselves through dance. To quote Beth Jones, "To dance is to reach for a word that doesn'™t exist, to sing the heartsong of a thousand generations, to feel the meaning of a moment in time.

Dance students range from Kindergarton to high school age.

After school programs, Saturday classes, and summer camps planned for the near future are the means used to provide affordable dance lessons for any student who desires to learn. We seek your support in expanding arts and physical fitness opportunities for underserved youth populations residing in the inner city of Indianapolis.

My Project

Every ballet class begins at the barre, a wooden support that is either free-standing or attached to the wall. Due to the nature of our studio space, free-standing barres are needed. Ballet dancers use the barre for balance while performing several ballet steps. Exercises done at the barre are the foundation for all the other ballet exercises. Sponsorship dollars will assist in providing our program with quality ballet barres bringing the students added safety as they work to further develop their skills.

The mission of our dance program is to provide cultural enrichment, discipline, and positive self-esteem in all children through the art of dance.
