This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an incredibly diverse group of students! They come from many different countries and speak more than 9 different languages at home.

They love learning and reading, but it is difficult to meet all the needs of so many students.

We have 20 different reading levels in our class, from B to T, and I want to learn more ways to better serve all readers. I want all my students to love reading, no matter their English proficiency or their reading level. I'm hoping Teacher's College can better push me as an educator to accomplish this.

My Project

The Reading and Writing Project at Teachers' College is well-known for helping teachers develop rigorous, authentic, and engaging reading instruction. I have several peers who have attended the institutes and found them invaluable. As an English Language Arts teacher, I am lucky to focus all day on how to get students to love reading. But I struggle to help students reach the next level of engagement and analysis.

The experts at Teachers College will give me more strategies to push my students' reading and thinking.

By attending this training, I hope to better meet all my students' diverse reading needs.
