My Project

If you walk into our school, you will see evidence of student creativity and excitement everywhere. From student projects hanging on bulletin boards to kids walking through the hallways with books in their hands, a culture of learning at our school. What we seek to deepen even further is our culture of literacy. Last year, we resurrected our school library after it had been closed for over 15 years. It has been incredible to see how much students love and support the space. But before students dive into their favorite books independently, they must learn to read themselves!

We want to ensure that every classroom teaching early literacy skills has a robust library of decodable readers to support new readers.

This project will not only give us the materials needed to prep and outfit 12+ classrooms with decodable readers that align with the phonics scope they are teaching, but it will also allow students to gain fluency faster. We know that every student has the ability to become a strong reader, and we want to accelerate that process. The cardstock, hole punches, lamination sheets, key rings, and readers will allow us to print and prep all of the decodables we need to support students for this next school year and beyond at a much lower cost than if we were to purchase the same number of texts outright.
