Raising Education Antennas Through Radio

My Students

Most, if not all of my students are empowered through music. Not only does it influence them, but it is often used as a teaching tool. Last semester a group of students approached me about starting a student operated online radio station. This project's aim is to have a station available for them.

My school is centered in an impoverished neighborhood.

The environment is rough, but the students still yearn to break these boundaries through education. With the help of a dedicated staff we've made much progress. The students I've encountered here are some of the most creative and energetic individuals I've ever met. My aim is to provide a healthy way to express themselves. Their knowledge of technology is exceptional, considering their limited resources. I'm totally confident that this energy could be put to use in a creative way.

My Project

The students will be using the equipment to construct their own online podcast radio program. The program will highlight student activities such as sporting events and enrichment clubs. The program will also serve as a bridge between faculty and students. A faculty member will be interviewed every podcast by students. Overall, this will be a unifying element for the school and potentially for other schools in the area.

These students will be able to not only empower themselves,but the entire student body.

Other musically inclined students can play their own music through this podcast. This will increase their self worth and possibly set them on a a path towards a career in radio. A project of this endeavor can and will positively change a students life.
