Help me give my students test tubes, droppers, kaleidoscopes, and diffraction glasses for color spectrum explorations and experiments, and dinosaur egg excavation kits for earth science explorations.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Transitional Kindergarteners are natural scientists, and like many scientists, dinosaurs and rainbows fascinate them!
With your help bringing the materials in this project to the classroom, we will have tons of hands-on experiences designed to help students become scientists and increase their knowledge about both the rainbow of colors in this world and the long-lost dinosaurs.
A dinosaur dig is the perfect hands-on activity to increase students' knowledge about the different types of dinosaurs, what they looked like, what they ate, and what ultimately happened to them. We will read books about dinosaurs, dinosaur digs, and excavations. Then, the students will use the excavation kits provided in this project to become paleontologists and dig their dinosaurs out of their eggs.
Students will also explore color, color mixing, and the beauty of the color spectrum with kaleidoscopes, test tubes, and droppers through hands-on color mixing in their very own classroom science lab. Finally, they will have the opportunity to explore the color spectrum with their very own pair of diffraction glasses, specifically designed to generate a visual cascade of colors as they explore light diffraction both indoors and outdoors.
