My Students

Second grade is a time where you can still divulge in fun activities for kids yet begin having deeper and higher-order conversations in the classroom. My students are a creative group that love collaboration and whole-class discussions.

Our classroom has a strong sense of community and inclusion.

All students' voices are heard and recognized in the classroom, and we encourage each other to go deeper and question "why." The donation of a Rainbow Dot Rug would give us a place to meet as a class to explore and learn deeper. Learning time will be maximized because every student will know exactly where they need to go and have a spacious place to sit.

My Project

The two items I am requesting provide students with two crucial things for learning in the elementary classroom: comfort/ predictability and communication with parents.

Everyone loves to feel safe and comfortable.

Providing students with a rainbow dot rug will give them the opportunity to fully engage in carpet time without distractions of others in their space. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they have a predetermined place to sit on the carpet. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.

Parent contact is crucial to building an effective classroom. Classroom mailboxes will make building that relationship so easy and smooth! Instead of shuffling each day to pass out papers, students will simply grab the papers from their mailbox as they leave, and away they go. Having a set place for students to put materials meant for parents will ensure parents are receiving information they need which will help students be successful.
