Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Dance Troupe models its style and technique after the greats?Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, and Debbie Allen. We study classical ballet, modern, jazz, and African dance. I created this performing arts group as an after-school program to expose students in our school to the wonderful world of the arts. My dancers are third graders and sixth graders from a high poverty suburban Long Island district. The dancers are great; the only problem is that we don't have a radio we can use to play our music.
We have been borrowing from the music teacher and other teachers who understandably need their Radio/CD/Tape player for their own classes. Our dance group, which performs just about every month in school, outside assemblies and concerts, would love to have our own radio instead of having to borrow one all of the time. We would like one that puts out high quality sound to fill a large room. Sometimes the radios that we borrow do not have a high sound output and it is hard to hear the music at times in the large cafeteria where we rehearse. The sound gets lost in the large room. We would appreciate your assistance in helping us purchase our own Radio/CD/Tape player so we can continue to enjoy and learn about the arts. Who knows we might have the next Judith Jamison or Savion Glover in our midst!
