it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
High-school students have limited opportunities to engage in practical experiences related to radioactivity and nuclear science. By utilizing the vapor chamber, students gain firsthand visibility into the effects of ionizing radiation. The geiger counter enables students to actively collect and analyze data from radioactive sources, fostering skills in data interpretation and scientific inquiry. The use of sealed radioactive sources ensures a safe environment for students to interact with various types of radioactivity, facilitating hands-on learning without compromising safety protocols. I am excited for students to have practical experiences that both enhance understanding and also cultivate a deeper appreciation for the complexities and applications of nuclear science.
Studying nuclear science introduces students to fundamental principles that underpin various fields of science and technology: nuclear energy production, cancer treatment, and global climate change are a few.
Your help funding this project will prepare my students for high-tech careers in nuclear engineering, environmental research, and healthcare. Practical knowledge in this area allows them to make informed decisions about nuclear technologies and their implications for the future.
