Our band program is comprised of students from grades 6-12. They normally begin in 6th grade, but we are now in our second year of a high school beginning band that is encouraging older students who did not start in 6th grade to join. This has been a wonderful experience that some students have even taken on into college ensembles.
The band students are dedicated to learning about music and making joyful noise with their instruments.
They work hard to learn how to play their instruments not only accurately but also musically. When they get a new piece, they want to know everything about it and use that knowledge to find similar music. It is a blessing to have such a wonderful group of young musicians every day.
My Project
Our band room is small and tiered, making space a huge deal. With this stand rack we will not only be able to better utilize the space we have, but we will also be able to move the stands to our performance spaces for concerts and other events. Moving the stands on a rack instead of students moving them one by one allows us to also protect the instruments from being hit or dropped by a student moving equipment. When the students are able to take care of their instruments instead of worrying about a stand and their music AND their instrument the performance ends up feeling easier.
