Ghost by Jason Reynolds is more than just a book about a kid who runs track; it's a powerful story about identity, resilience, and the power of second chances. For middle school students, especially those who don't always see themselves reflected in the stories they read, Ghost offers a mirror. It gives voice to the experiences of many young people navigating trauma, self-doubt, and the struggle to find where they belong.
Reynolds writes in a way that is relatable, honest, and full of heart.
His characters feel real, and his storytelling inspires even reluctant readers to keep turning the pages. By bringing Ghost into our classroom, we’ll be giving students a chance to engage with literature that speaks to their realities and shows them that their stories matter too.
This book has the potential to open up important conversations about empathy, perseverance, and the impact of our choices. With your support, we can ensure every student has access to this powerful novel and the opportunity to grow through its pages.
