This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students would benefit so much from reading about Marsha P. Johnson. She personifies racial justice and representation for so many people. These books will be used by the students in reading groups, where they will meet to discuss the ideas and build on their own ideas that come from the reading.
Seeing racial justice and representation like this is absolutely life changing.
Representation, for so many, is often overlooked. Being able to give students access to these books is life changing. Being able to create a safe space for students to explore what it means to stand up for one's self is an absolute game changer. Additionally, it will afford students the ability to explore, in writing, their thoughts, and then to present these written thoughts to each other.
