Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help me motivate my kindergarten students to do their best every day by providing incentives, printer ink, baby wipes, paper towels and Ziploc bags for our classroom!
I teach transitional kindergarten at a public charter school in the San Fernando Valley.
This is a new grade level for the state of California. My students are turning 5 years old soon, and for many of them, this is their first experience in a classroom.
Our school is a Title I school, which means that more than half of our students qualify for the free and reduced meal program. The community is culturally, economically and linguistically diverse. It is a great place to grow up!
My Project
I am requesting incentives to motivate my students to work hard, pay attention and follow our school rules. Studies have been done which show that providing rewards is an effective way to engage young learners and get them to do the work that is needed to improve in many areas of the school curriculum. My materials cart includes birthday crowns, bracelets, balls, loose tooth necklaces, and other items that will go in our treasure chest as incentives.
I am also in need of printer ink to make flashcards. The children use these flashcards for daily practice, to learn sight words, alphabet names and sounds, numbers and other skills. Ziploc bags are needed for so many things: we use them to contain emergency clothes, flash card packs, center materials and many other things. Baby wipes and paper towels will be used by the students to keep our room neat and tidy. All of the items requested are things that are not provided by our school district, so we are asking for your help!
Your donations will help my students have a wonderful, productive year.
Also, Quill has offered to match donations to projects that request materials from Quill, so by donating to this request, your donation will go twice as far! Thank you so much for your help!
