Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help my students get physically fit with fun and safe exercise equipment! Staying active for at least 60 minutes a day will help them stay healthy and alert, which will improve their ability to learn throughout the day.
My students have been requesting better outside "toys" to use when we are active on the playground.
They are a class of transitional kindergarteners, which means they will be turing 5 before the end of the year. Our wonderful, multi-cultural, public school is located in the San Fernando Valley.
We are a Title I, high poverty school, and many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes. My class includes students that are both English and non-English speakers, as well as students with disabilities. Many of them do not get the chance to participate in physical fitness activities at home.
My Project
As we start the new school year, we find that we are in need of toner for our classroom printer, refills for our Swiffer, and a few motivational items such as balls and birthday ribbons.
Last year, our 9 year old printer finally gave out.
In the first part of this project, I have requested a new printer. In this second part, I am seeking to obtain toner to use with the new printer. The classroom printer and toner are used in many ways. The students will be making stories using Microsoft Word, and illustrations using a software program called KidPix. They print out copies of these stories and illustrations and share them with their families. Also, we will be able to print out worksheets, visuals and homework for the students. There is a wealth of resources to be found on-line, which can be printed out and used to make exciting lessons for the children.
Last year we recieved a Swiffer floor cleaner through Donorschoose.org. This item served us well, especially because we serve breakfast in the classroom and our floor becomes sticky and dirty because of the food spillage. With Swiffer refills, we will continue to have a quick and sanitary means to clean the floor and make it ready for a day of learning once breakfast is over. The balls and birthday ribbons will be handed out as motivational rewards to encourage the students to do their best work and enjoy being at school.
Your donation will help to provide toner, Swiffer refills and rewards for my students. Having the ability to print their work will motivate my students to become writers! Thank you in advance for your help.
