Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are just turning 5. For many of them, this is their first experience in a school setting. Some of the students have special learning needs; many are learning English for the first time. The majority of their families live below the poverty line and rely on our free meal plan for their child's breakfast and lunch.
Our school is a high poverty, Title I school, with high expectations for all.
Each day we practice letters, phonics and sight words. We study science, social studies, and incorporate art daily. At the end of the school day, the children are so excited to see their parents and tell them all the things they did at school. The parents are very supportive, and enjoy spending time with their little ones, reading stories and learning new things.
My Project
As we start the new school year, we find that we are in need of refills for our Swiffer and baby wipes to keep our tables and supplies clean and sanitary.
In addition to the cleaning supplies, I am requesting dry erase markers in a variety of colors and sizes.
These markers will be used during whole group lessons as well as during independent center time. The colors are inspirational, and the children enjoy being creative. It is fun to erase a picture and start all over! Unfortunately, the markers only last a short while and need to be replaced. This supply will keep the children drawing and writing all year!
Your donation will help to provide cleaning supplies and dry erase markers for my students. These are basic supplies that are important components to helping our classroom run smoothly throughout the year. Thank you in advance for your help.
