Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting a classroom rug, headphones, and snacks for my students. I love having my students sit on the floor for story time, discussions, and other learning experiences. Without a rug, students have to sit on the hard floor and tend to get wiggly quickly. Having this beautiful classroom rug will help my students keep a longer attention span and get more out of their learning.

My district is requiring students to spend 60+ minutes on iReady each week, however without any headphones, my class is a super loud environment during this time.

While my students do their best to concentrate and do well on their lessons it is hard when all you can hear is the other laptops. Research has shown that students can grow and make achievement gaps when they spend this time on iReady so these headphones will help them concentrate and focus. In order to keep my classroom more organized, I also organized a hanging headphone organizer.

Last, but not least, I have ordered a variety of snacks. I am in a Title 1 school this year where some students only receive food at school. As you may know, it is important for students to have essentials like food in order to learn.

My goal with this project is to create a cozy environment with a rug, a quiet environment with headphones, and a concentrated classroom with snacks.

My students are extra special to me this year because moved grades 6 weeks into the school year. While this was incredibly scary and I was nervous about this change, I am super grateful for the incredible and unique group of students I have this year. Each day they have taught me so much and helped to bring a smile to my face.
