I teach a first grade class in a high poverty inner city area. I have 5 special education inclusion students, 6 nonreaders, 5 average students and 7 high achievers. They all are eager to participate in class and willingly try all skills.
My students love to participate in group activities but unfortunately some are ahead of others and this causes the slower learners to be overpowered by the high achievers. I need a way to quickly assess how many of the children have gotten a skill by their responses. I would like to be able to scan the group and see the children with the correct answers and the children who will need help.
By using these Kwik Check boards , I can see everyone's response and all the students will get a chance to reply. All the children can participate and not feel left out. Everyone will have a turn and none of them will get discouraged. I would like to be able to group them quickly for additional small groups and this seems like the quickest most accurate way to assess. We can also use these boards in small groups to assess the needs or growth of each student.
With your generous help these children will have an equal opportunity to participate and show their growth or needs. You can make a difference in their interest level and help them feel more important in the group. Thank you.
