My students need cello outfit for our Hawaii Elementary School Orchestra. We have some younger students that would really love to play the cello and need a smaller size.
We have a fast-growing Elementary School Orchestra. We have some younger students that would love to play the cello, but we do not have any instruments for them. The 1/4 size cello would give the opportunity to the younger, interested students to play the cello and make beautiful music.
We have a public school Elementary Orchestra in Hawaii.
The program is comprised of a beginning, intermediate, and advanced orchestra and a String Ensemble. There are currently, approximately 80+ children enrolled in the program. students are enthusiastic and eager to learn to play an instrument. The students are in grades 1-6.
My Project
The 1/4 size cello will enable our younger interested students to be able to play the instrument of choice. Every child should have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument despite family financial barriers. Many of our students could not have otherwise afforded to play a musical instrument were it not for the school music program. Funding is very limited and the program is growing rapidly. The 1/4 size cello will positively affect dozens of students for years to come. Music learning promotes cognitive, social, language, reading, spatial, psychomotor, emotional, and musical development. Music makes students smarter. The whole brain is activated during music reading and playing an instrument. The new cello will enable more and younger students to be able to play in the school orchestra program. Giving the gift of music will affect children positively for a lifetime. Music learning teaches more than musical skills. It teaches life skills as well.
Donations towards a new 1/4 cello will have lasting and profound effects on many, many children for years to come.
Research indicates that music raises academic test scores, and makes students smarter. The smaller cello will allow young students to make music. Giving the gift of music for this cello will make a huge impact on our students who could not otherwise afford to play the cello. Students will become better learners, better citizens, and will go on to make this world a better place.
