Quality Reading Books for Kindergarten

Help me give my students the gift of quality read-aloud books. I have included books that cover many topics including Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Veteran's Day, President's Day, African American history, and how to spread kindness.

My Students

I am a Philadelphia kindergarten teacher who works with students from low-income neighborhoods. My students come to school each day with different experiences and diverse backgrounds. It is an absolutely magical thing to see when they all come together as one to learn, however they face many challenges when they leave school. Many students' families are unable to afford school supplies and books. Because of this, my students light up when they are provided with quality educational materials. This shows me that my students have such a strong desire to learn, be challenged, and explore.

My Project

I have chosen to start this project to give my students the gift of quality read-aloud books that they will love and learn from. This is my first year teaching kindergarten, and I have come to realize that I do not always have access to read aloud books that cover topics such as holidays, kindness, and cultural differences. I want my students to develop a love for reading and learning about new things! My students' eyes light up when I show them a new book, and I cannot wait to see the looks on their faces when they see our new collection. Thank you so much in advance for your contribution.
