Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At-Home Learning through e-Classrooms and a Virtual Google Meets 90 mins each class all day. It has hit these young students, and I quite a bit differently than others dealing with COVID 19. As I approach the 2nd Semester of Distant Virtual at Home Learning and Working at a G.L.O.B.A.L. school, I need to provide these young developing minds with all the resources they should have. Unfortunately they still do not have full access, with testing just around the corner.

My students are 99% English language learners and all receive Free lunch.

They took there exams in their 1st language and now everything is in English and they are struggling readers that are compassionate and caring. Just issuing each a personal copy of Hidden Figures from another project had their eyes illuminated with excitement.

They are remaining at home to ensure their safety and longevity of life while trying to be educated through this pandemic at a crucial year of life 7th-grade. The Summer Programs for the district offered so much for the students, yet there has been zero support at all for the materials to be available to the students at home and allow them to achieve same level.

My Project

Financial literacy needs to begin in school. By middle school, students should be able to manage decisions around small amounts of money, understand percentages, and build understanding in budgets and savings. Students in an urban inner city school will be able to take the education from class and share it at home. This project will impact several families by building their financial literacy skills and use in real life situations.

The lessons that I have developed for this project on financial literacy will be able to have an impact on each individual student and their families.

They will be able to acknowledge percentage discounts and taxes in sales, budgeting finances, allowances, saving accounts, and the Big Pay Days that are subject to many more taxes.

The planner will help them cultivate develop the Millionaire Mindset. Along with it and the lessons they will learn from this and other projects each student will have tools to help their families work towards being debt free and/or save for retirement. The we ALL need but is never offered in school.
