My Project
Emerging readers need daily opportunities to practice the phonics and decoding skills required for fluent reading. Word study lessons are most effective when readers have access to quality curriculum and word building activities that directly connect to their developing phonics skills.
My project equips my second grade classroom with the curricular resources necessary to meet the needs of my readers.
I would like to purchase a phonics curriculum and a class set of magnetic whiteboards to support my reading instruction. Second grade is a pivotal year of reading development in elementary school. Students gain the skills they need to be confident readers before they enter third grade. It is essential that I provide my students with a strong foundation and deep understanding of how words work since my reading instruction is the basis of all of their future literacy instruction.
