Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is a Title I school. Some of my students are in an inclusion class and have specific learning differences. All of my students are brand new to a 6-12 span school. They are trying to find their way as they transition from a little kid to a middle schooler. Sadly, as an LAUSD public school with limited funding, our students are the ones who are most affected.
Quality headphones will help them block out other classroom noises to focus on their assignments.
They can also use the microphone for speech-to-text in order to concentrate on learning content.
My students are curious and excited to learn. As sixth graders, they are also very aware of their peers. The headphones will help students of all levels blend in and not feel any different.
This year, I am implementing a blended individualized instructional approach. Students will be learning in multiple ways, one of which is through video lessons that I have created. Students will begin new lessons by watching my lessons and taking notes. They can pause, rewatch, and discuss with their classmates. This prepares them for the follow-up activities that are collaborative. These headphones will allow them to have a solid start in forming a strong understanding of the concept before collaborating, practicing, and ultimately showing their mastery of the concepts.
