It is very important for students at the elementary level to be given opportunities where they get to practice being focused. For some students, this skill is a lot trickier than for other students. Often times, it is very helpful for my students to wear headphones to not only help them focus, but also be more effective in their work quality.
Through using headphones, it allows differentiation for struggling readers and it helps students who are overstimulated to regulate their emotions and be able to rejoin the learning community.
By having extra pairs on hand, it also helps to ease the financial burden off of many families who are low income.
