Qball, Now You Hear Me!

Help me give my students the power of having their voice heard through a Qball Throwable Microphone.

My Students

My students are high achievers who come from diverse backgrounds. In my regular education classroom I have 15 first-graders who have diverse learning needs, but for the most part they are bright, curious, hands-on learners who all have a voice that is worth hearing.

My students enjoy talking and sharing what they know and have learned with one other.

Research has proven that students retain more information when they are engaged in their learning and they are able to access their learning through multiple learning styles. Qball would increase what auditory learners can hear, allow verbal learners to have an audience for their words, and provide kinesthetic learners with the opportunity to move.

My Project

My first graders have a lot to say and often are reluctant to use their voice so they can be heard by their peers. Qball would allow my students to share what they know and also to be heard by their peers. This will improve classroom conversations across the curriculum.

Teaching is listening and learning is talking.

I my class my students share the responsibility for the learning by talking to partners and sharing their learning with the class. Speaking is an important part of the skills needed in first grade. The Qball will allow my students to speak and be heard across the day. I imagine the Qball being used when we start our day in morning meeting and throughout the day by students as they share ideas about books, read their writing, practice math facts, and work with words during phonics instruction.

Your donation to this project will allow students the ability to share their voice and ideas with their classmates and to be heard. This will increase classroom conversations while limiting repeated comments because they were not heard the first time.
