This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about my students is their unique ways of seeing the world and the joy they express when they succeed in tasks that are meaningful to them. My students with autism thrive in environments that offer structure, hands-on activities, and opportunities for independent problem-solving. They often excel when given the right tools that match their learning styles - especially visual and tactile resources.
This project will provide a variety of developmentally appropriate puzzles designed to strengthen fine motor skills, cognitive development, and social interaction.
These puzzles will support multiple learning goals: from shape and color recognition to turn-taking and perseverance. Some of my students are nonverbal, and puzzles offer them a powerful way to demonstrate their understanding and build confidence through success. I am also requesting bowls for my students to use.
Each puzzle will serve as both a calming activity and a learning opportunity, helping students focus, reduce anxiety, and engage meaningfully in the classroom. With these resources, my students can develop essential skills in a way that feels like play because for them, play is how they best learn.
