My students range in age from 5-8 years, from various urban backgrounds, and have a range of developmental and physical disabilities! They love to dance, love to create, and love to explore! My students love art projects and using sensory materials to create beautiful works of art they can be proud of! These forms of expression aid in my students' development, motor skills, and individual expression!
With the new hybrid learning many students are coming into the building 4 days a week; we are constantly looking for ways to help my students access the curriculum creatively and with full individually and inclusion.
With the need for social distancing and each student feeling safe in handling materials, these items will give students the opportunity to learn at home or in the classroom.
My Project
These materials will aid in helping my special education students access and pull information from materials they currently have at home. These tactile letters will allow students the sensory aid to help develop their letting writing skills. Likewise, the story kits will allow my students to remain engaged and excited about story time, in the classroom or at home.
These materials allow for a visual representation that connects prior knowledge to the visual image, and strengthens students ability to relate meaning to text.
With so many unknowns, I want to do everything I can to ensure my students begin the year ready to continue learning and growing — with the engaging, interactive resources I know all students will love.
