Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my class; clear-eyed or bleary-eyed, energetic, or exhausted - I am always happy to see my students.

These TK/K students are full of wonder and joy, and boundless energy.

The majority of them are English Learners; the children of hardworking immigrant parents desperate to give their children a chance at a life better than their own. My students have never before been in a formal academic setting, let alone had to process complex ideas in a language they don't fully understand. Their eager contributions, delivered in a charming confusion of Spanish and English, convey their earnest desire to learn.

Ours is an inner-city school full of students with high potential, and dedicated teachers working day in and day out to help our scholars be college and career ready.

My Project

These materials will be added to our classroom manipulatives, and provide students with an opportunity to develop a plethora of skills as they communicate and work collaboratively to complete the puzzle.

Your contributions will help get puzzle pieces into the eager hands of wonderful jigsaw enthusiasts who can't get enough of the one puzzle currently available in our classroom.

These materials will help young students develop language as they negotiate with each other which pieces go where and describe the image they have pieced together. They will also provide them with a delightful platform to stimulate their mathematical thinking as they look for and utilize the printed pattern of each piece, and tits interlocking shapes to complete the image.

Your contribution will help give students living in high-poverty conditions access to the toys and tools necessary to foster a strong love of learning, and college and career readiness.
