My Students

I want my students to have the independence of stapling paper to create books, 3 hole punching materials for their portfolios and sharpening their own pencils. Right now I have only one of each of these prized items and am hesitant to let them use the items for fear of them breaking!

I am the lucky teacher of 28 second graders.

My students come from more than ten different countries and speak 14 different home languages! My school focuses on immigrant, refugee, and neighborhood students. Over 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students deserve high quality materials and experiences, which are often denied to them due to home and school budget issues. You can help give them the high quality educational experiences they deserve.

My Project

The teacher should not hold all the power to all the supplies in the classroom. My seven and eight year olds are capable of stapling their own papers, sharpening pencils, creating books, stamping their papers and three hole punching items. Having to ask me in order to make these things happen lessens the independence my students have. It is my goal for my students to be independent in their learning and doing.

Your generosity will help to give my students more independence in the classroom.

I will not have to worry about a supply breaking because we won't have only one. With your support my students will build their independence!!
