This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In a society that is so focused on visuals, it's crucial that students understand how to properly analyze, create, and respond to the images around them.
The students in my communication media class are excited to learn about new technologies and how they affect their lives.
They are also interested in creating content that allows them to study the development of media technology. My class takes students on a journey from cavemen writing on walls to present day coding.
However, they can only learn so much from reading about things in a book. By having tablets, the students will get the chance to create and be engaged in the things they are learning about. Students truly learn by doing--so it's crucial they have the tools with which to do it.
My Project
Students will utilize the three ASUS tablets throughout the year doing various projects. It will give them the ability to put into practice the concepts they read about in their textbook. During their Book and Newspaper Unit: Students will create print media. During their Magazine and Advertising Unit: Students will connect the tablets with green screen technology and learn about photo manipulation. During the TV Unit: Students will use the tablets to create documentaries that explore how those around them utilize TV.
During the Film Unit: Students will use the tablets to create mini movies. Everything from filming to editing will be done on the tablet. During the Music Unit: Students will use the tablets to create songs, learning the basics of sound editing. During the Video Game Unit: Students will use the tablets to explore various gaming apps and then dive into basic coding to learn how the apps are created.
With your donation, the content in their textbook can become actual hands-on activities giving students the power to be an active part in their learning, rather than merely listening to lecture.
