My Students

Puzzles are vital to our class. Help us put together the pieces in our classroom. The puzzle center is thought of a free-play by my students. I happen to know that puzzle time is much more than fun and games. Puzzles offer benefits in the cognitive, physical (fine motor), and social domains.

I am a Kindergarten teacher.

My students are the most lively bunch of 5 year-olds. They absolutely love learning and doing so in a fun and engaging manner. My school is in a high-poverty area and students have limited access and exposure to resources related to their formal education.

My Project

Puzzle time will allow students of diverse multiple intelligences (verbal/linguistic, logical/mathematic, visual/spatial, bodily/kinesthetic, etc) to come together to learn sensory perception; fine motor skills such as grasping and manipulating objects; hand-eye coordination; spatial reasoning: problem-solving/reasoning skills; principles of deduction; part to whole / whole to part understanding; sorting and classifying; organization skills; self confidence; the value of patience and determination; as well as social skills/cooperative play.

These puzzles will have a tremendous impact on my students. They will benefit from an increase in the following areas: cognitive skills, fine motor skills, social skills, hand-eye coordination, memory skills, vocabulary development, problem-solving skills, spatial perception, and literacy skills.
