My students need line sliders, number counters, money stamps, and a variety of other supplies to engage them in mathematics.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Craig's classroom raised $393

My Students
My students have a thirst for knowledge, smiles that light up any room, and they celebrate each new skill. My students also have a wide range of identified needs such as learning delays, developmental delays, Autism, and physical impairments. Additionally, many of my students are facing issues such as homelessness, poverty, and other traumatic issues.
You can help level the playing field for special-needs students.
Special needs students deserve a great education and this is what I strive to provide every day, but sometimes I need help. When that happens, I turn to you and DonorsChoose.org!
My Project
This project is designed to build engagement in math with my special-needs early numeracy students. The activities have been selected to target where they are at and where I want them to be. The materials will be used during class time, small group center time, and focused time in the resource room.
My special-needs students need more hands-on tools to help them access the "M" in STEM and to help them to soar in mathematics.
With this completed project, students will be able to use number stampers to create their own math problems, and the coin stampers will make story problems come to life with visuals.
For the students that are ready to go to something a little more abstract, they can use the number line sliding frog to hop along the number line and count, add, and subtract. There are also various games to help students grasp the early concepts of numbers and basic operations.
This project is packed with hands-on, engaging games that will make the kids want to stay in for recess to do more math! (Well, maybe not, but it will make math a lot more engaging.)
Many of the students I teach come from families struggling with homelessness. For those students learning can be a struggle as their minds are clouded with worry and they may move to new schools frequently. This project aims to bridge the academic gap for those students. The math supplies requested feature a hands-on approach to draw the students in and visual support to sustain their attention and support them through the academics.
